The University of Adelaide has established South Australia’s first Vet School at its historic Roseworthy Campus. The rural setting of the campus, which is located on a 1600 ha property that includes a working farm, allows excellent access to large animal species as well as a full service teaching hospital and ambulatory clinic which will open in 2011.

The first intake of students in the University’s three-year BSc pre-veterinary degree were enrolled in 2008, and from 2011 there will be continuing places every year for the three year postgraduate Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of our Animal and Veterinary Sciences School and offers the chance to grow your research program while shaping the future of teaching at the school.

We are seeking a Veterinarian, with a higher degree or relevant experience in Veterinary Reproduction/Theriogenology or a related discipline, who is eligible to practice in South Australia to be part of a teaching and research team based at the Roseworthy campus, which lies to the north of Adelaide city and is approximately 50 minutes drive from the city or 25 minutes drive from the Barossa Valley, one of Australia’s premier wine growing areas.

You should have:

 A higher degree, preferably at doctorate level or equivalent relevant experience, in Veterinary Reproduction/Theriogenology, or a related discipline.

 Evidence of contributions to the teaching effort of a school in Veterinary Reproduction/Theriogenology at tertiary level.

 A record of research based publication and evidence of the ability to attract research funding.

 Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of teaching and research teams.

 Experience with supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects.

 A qualification in Veterinary Science acceptable for registration in South Australia.

For appointment at the Senior Lecturer level, in addition to the above, you should have a strong publication track record in peer reviewed international journals. It is also highly desirable that you have a specialist qualification in Veterinary Reproduction/Theriogenology.

Salary: (Level B) $77,668 - $92,256 per annum, (Level C) $95,163-109,735 per annum

Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 17% applies.

Tenure-Track Position in Theriogenology

The University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) is seeking a theriogenologist for a full-time tenure track faculty position. 
 
The successful applicant is expected to oversee the teaching of the theriogenology in the DVM and contribute to graduate teaching. This includes teaching across the DVM curriculum, including lectures, laboratories, and practicum rotations and contributions to graduate and advanced clinical training. The ability to cover multiple species at the DVM level is required, with expertise in bovine or equine theriogenology being highly desirable.
 
The successful applicant will be expected to establish an independent, or collaborative, externally funded research program.  We are particularly interested in individuals with research interests that align with UCVM’s research priority in reproductive and regenerative medicine and a focus on large animal theriogenology, but other areas will be considered.  This position offers a range of unique research opportunities through collaboration with the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research Centers, U of C Faculty of Medicine, University of Alberta, and other groups across Canada. Contribution to clinical service will be through our distributed veterinary teaching hospital.
 
Qualifications include a DVM degree and advanced training in theriogenology is required.  Board eligibility or certification in large animal theriogenology is required.  A PhD degree is considered highly desirable and teaching excellence is expected.  Appointments with clinical responsibilities require eligibility for licensure in the province of Alberta. Appointment will be in an appropriate department in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and at a rank and salary commensurate with experience. Individuals eligible for appointment as associate or full professor are particularly encouraged to apply.
 
UCVM is Canada’s fifth accredited veterinary college and will graduate its first class in May 2012.  The DVM program combines a comprehensive general veterinary education with enhanced opportunities in selected areas.  The integrated core-elective curriculum combines discipline-based courses with extensive on-campus and off-campus practical learning.  UCVM uses a distributed veterinary learning community including public and private practice partners to deliver its fourth year practicum program.  Clinical activity is through engagement with regional practices.  UCVM is a research-intensive Faculty with rapidly expanding research and graduate education programs.
