Igor Canisso, DVM, MS, PhD, DACT, DECAR

Growing up on a ranch in Birigui, São Paulo, Dr. Canisso bred and raised livestock and horses with his father, instilling an early-life passion for veterinary medicine and animal reproduction. After completing his Veterinary Medicine degree at the Federal University of Paraná Campus Palotina, he pursued extensive studies and residencies in Brazil, Britain, and the US, culminating in his position as Associate Professor of Theriogenology at the University of Illinois.

Dr. Canisso has made significant strides in equine perinatology and subfertility in mares and stallions. He has published more than 150 research articles and is a sought-after educator, providing CE globally and serving as a mentor to theriogenology students. This award marks the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.
